(RE) Keisha Buchanan leaves Sugababes

Keisha Buchanan has left Sugababes.

The singer insists it was not her decision to leave the trio - of which she was the only remaining founder member - but the announcement she is to be replaced by UK Eurovision entrant Jade Ewen ends days of speculation about the group's future.

It had been previously been reported that Amelle Berrabah was to announce her departure from the group amid rumors she felt bullied by Buchanan and bandmate Heidi Range.

Following the announcement, Buchanan wrote on her Twitter page: "I've had a great time and have achieved more than I ever thought I would.

"Although it was not my choice to leave, it's time to enter a new chapter in my life. I have nothing but positive things to say about the girls and I wish them the best of luck. I would like to state that there were no arguments, bullying or anything of the sort that led to this.

"Sometimes a break down in communication and lack of trust can result in many different things. I would also like to point out that I have always supported the girls and they have also supported me.

"I want to thank the Sugababes fans and my fans for all your support and all who have never judged me, but accepted me for who I am... The feisty, funny, professional, fearless motor mouth. This is not the end... but the beginning!"

While the new Sugababes line-up are preparing to release a new album, Buchanan is to embark on a solo career.

Record label Island released a statement saying: "The current line-up of the Sugababes has disbanded.

"Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah will continue as the Sugababes and will be joined by new member Jade Ewen. They release their album 'Sweet 7' on November 23rd through Island Records.

"Keisha Buchanan will continue to record for Island Records as a solo artist."

The Sugababes have a history of bust-ups within the band and have seen several line-up changes.

Range replaced original member Siobhan Donaghy in 2001, while Berrabah was brought in after founding member Mutya Buena walked out on the girl group in 2005.

Sugababe Jade Ewen harassed by fans

New Sugababes singer Jade Ewen is being harassed by fans of departed member Keisha Buchanan.

The former Eurovision contestant - who replaced Keisha, the band’s last original member, last week – had to shut down her Twitter page after swarms of users on the social networking site bombarded her with angry messages.

They reacted badlyafter Jade posted a message insisting she had not criticised Keisha after joining the girl group – also comprised of Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah.

Jade wrote: 'Let’s clear this up. I have never met Keisha in my whole life. We were never friends. I don’t understand what she is trying to achieve by saying this.'

Since leaving, Keisha has remained adamant it wasn't her decision to quit the band she had been part of for 11 years.

However, the 24-year-old singer has been thrown a musical life-line by Ne-Yo.

The R’n’B singer wants to work with Keisha and sent her a diamond-encrusted Chanel watch last weekend when she celebrated her birthday (30.09.09) early.

A source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: 'Ne-Yo has promised to take Keisha under his wing. She was showered with gifts on Saturday (26.09.09), but his was the biggest. He bought her a diamond-encrusted Chanel watch with a message engraved on the back, 'Happy Birthday to Keisha, a friend and a survivor. This is your year. Ne-Yo.’ "
