Britney still hot on eBay

2007 Disember 10

People just want a piece of Britney Spears.

EBay reports it sold 34,345 items associated with Spears in the past year, including disposable lighters with her picture on them.

Compare that to Paris Hilton, who had 27,377 items associated with her sold on eBay.

The most popular thing associated with both Spears and Hilton: fragrances.

Neither of them can hold a candle, though, to Barry Bonds.

EBay sold 145,497 items associated with him, including a grilled-cheese sandwich that sold for $30. The seller claimed Bonds' 756th home-run ball bounced off the sandwich in San Francisco's AT&T Park.

Timbaland To Revive Ashlee Simpson's Career?

Superproducer Timbaland has been credited with reviving Ashlee Simpson's music career by collaborating with the singer on her next single. Simpson's new song "Out Of My Head" has been winning rave reviews and looks set to give the singer a much-needed boost for her forthcoming album.

Her 2004 debut Autobiography stormed the U.S. charts, debuting at number one and selling over 2.5 million copies.

However her 2006 follow-up, I Am Me, failed to live up to the success of her previous work, selling less than half the amount of copies. And the 23-year-old hopes her new LP, due for release in March next year, will be helped by Timbaland's influence.

She says, "It's mainly a fun, dancey song. It's got an 80's feel to it. But, at the same time, it's Timbaland."

Madonna Slams Age Stereotypes

Madonna has criticized society's long-held stereotypes for the middle-aged, insisting she will never conform to most people's expectations of a 50-year-old woman.

The singer is apprehensive about reaching her landmark 50th birthday in August but adamantly refuses to become a victim of ageism.

She says, "Not only does society suffer from racism and sexism but it also suffers from ageism. Once you reach a certain age you're not allowed to be adventurous, you're not allowed to be sexual. I mean, is there a rule? Are you supposed to just die?"

Ricky Martin 'Outed' By Pal

Latin heartthrob Ricky Martin is facing fresh speculation over his sexuality after his good friend and skin care specialist Ole Henriksen 'outed' the star in a recent magazine interview.

Henriksen was being interviewed by gay Swedish magazine Salonk when he made the comment about Livin' La Vida Loca's sexual preference.

He's quoted as saying, "He (Martin) is a bit more open about it (his homosexuality) these days than he used to be... I don't know if he has a boyfriend."

And when asked who he'd choose to spend a romantic holiday with, Henriksen replied, "I'd go for Stig Tofting (ex Danish soccer player), but since he's straight, I'd say my client Ricky Martin."

Radiohead Avoided Leaked Album By Pretending To Be Phil Collins

Radiohead were so determined to keep new album "In Rainbows" from leaking online, they labeled master recordings with the names of artists they thought nobody would want to listen to.

Despite releasing "In Rainbows" as an internet download allowing customers to choose their own price in October, the British band decided the best way to cover their tracks was to pretend their new work was by Phil Collins or Kula Shaker.

Bassist Colin Greenwood explains, "It felt like a gigantic risk. Like Mission: Impossible, almost. We destroyed all CDs after every day of recording. And on the master we'd always write a name which probably nobody would listen to if we had lost it - Eagles: Greatest Hits, Kula Shaker Demos, Phil Collins Hip-hop Covers."

Celine Dion Goes Techno?

Celine Dion performs techno cover versions of her most famous song on request from her six-year-old son. Rene-Charles insists his superstar mother joins him for the bizarre recitals of Titanic song My Heart Will Go On.

She explains, "A couple of weeks ago, he took his keyboard and goes, 'Mom, do you want to sing?' This is the last thing I want to do after every night for five years straight, but this is my son. And he starts the music from Titanic. I'm trying to follow the keyboard, a very techno version. But accompanied by my son, it was special."

Nick Cave And Warren Ellis' Score For 'The Assassination Of Jesse James' Out Feb. 5

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis - of the internationally celebrated bands Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, The Dirty Three and Grinderman – release the soundtrack to the film The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford on Mute February 5th, 2008. February 5, 2008 also sees the film released on DVD. The soundtrack is currently available via digital download.

"The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford" is a savage tale of the true American West. Director Andrew Dominik, who also directed the 2000 cult classic Chopper, brings his distinctive vision to this project; the story of the slaying of one of the West's most infamous outlaws, Jesse James (1847-1882).

The film, adapted for the screen from the Ron Hansen novel of the same title, charts Robert Ford's (Casey Affleck) entry into Jesse James' (Brad Pitt) cutthroat gang of bandits and thieves, Ford's subsequent resentment of James' growing notoriety and ultimately, Ford's plan to kill the deadly gunslinger. The film also stars Sam Shepard, Zooey Deschanel, Sam Rockwell and Mary-Louise Parker.

Nick CaveNick Cave and Warren Ellis' score for "The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford" captures the charismatic and unpredictable nature of its central protagonist, played by Brad Pitt. Like the film, Cave and Ellis' music cuts through the mythic figure of Jesse James to reveal the complex, contradictory man beneath. Daring and passionate, Cave and Ellis' have delivered a soundtrack that retains its captivating power, even without the benefit of the film's imagery.

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis previously collaborated on the soundtrack for the 2005 critically acclaimed Australian Western "The Proposition." "The Proposition" was directed by John Hillcoat and written by Cave himself. The haunting semi-acoustic score, featuring plaintive violin, eerie sound loops and mournful piano, received universal praise.

Cave is no stranger to scoring for films and has established a renowned reputation for his work in this field. Together with fellow Bad Seeds Mick Harvey and Blixa Bargeld, Cave wrote the indelible soundtracks the harrowing 1989 prison drama "Ghosts...Of The Civil Dead" and the 1996 emotionally charged jungle melodrama, "To Have And To Hold" (both directed by John Hillcoat). Cave has also been commissioned by various directors to compose specific songs for their motion pictures; including Wim Wenders, for his pictures Until The End Of The World (1991) and Faraway, So Close! and the 1993 sequel his Wings Of Desire, (in which Cave And The Bad Seeds performed), and Jez Butterworth for Mojo (1997).
